Renowned stage performer and poet Kumar Vishwas recently participated in a special program where he candidly discussed the various stages of his life. Throughout his journey as a poet, politician, and storyteller, he has garnered a wealth of experiences which he shared with his audience. Kumar Vishwas did not just talk about the highs and lows of his career, but also shed light on his family struggles and the specific expectations his father held for him.
The Conflict Between Engineering and Poetry
The father of Kumar Vishwas harbored a dream for his son to become a successful engineer. As a man responsible for a family of five children, his father hoped that Kumar would choose a stable and secure career path. However, Kumar Vishwas had a deep inclination toward literature and teaching. His father found this path difficult to accept for a long time, which frequently led to ideological clashes at home. While he has always appeared bold and outspoken on public platforms, he remained quiet and disciplined in front of his father during his younger years.
From Vishwas Kumar Sharma to Kumar Vishwas
During the program, Kumar Vishwas also shared interesting facts regarding his name change. His birth name is Vishwas Kumar Sharma, and he was lovingly referred to as Pintu by his family. His sister played a pivotal role in the transition of his name. It was on his sister's advice that he changed 'Vishwas Kumar' to 'Kumar Vishwas' to create a poetic identity. This was not merely a name change but the formal beginning of his literary journey.
The First Poem and the Trophy
The literary talent of Kumar Vishwas became apparent while he was still in the 9th grade. When his sister was preparing for a poetry competition, Kumar Vishwas penned his very first poem to assist her. The poem was so impactful that his sister secured first place and won a trophy in that competition.
The Slap After Writing His First Poem
There was a humorous yet painful aspect to this success. When his sister returned home after winning the competition, their father showered her with love and praise. However, the moment he learned that the poem was written by Kumar Vishwas, his anger escalated. Instead of pride, he scolded his son for wasting time on such pursuits instead of focusing on his studies and slapped him. At that time, his father viewed literature as a mere waste of time, a passion that Kumar Vishwas would later transform into the foundation of his lifelong identity.
