Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has launched a sharp verbal offensive against Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Responding to remarks made by Gandhi against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Bawankule made contentious claims about the opposition leader's conduct. Bawankule alleged that Rahul Gandhi behaves as though he has Alzheimer's, stating that his temper and focus shift every half hour. The minister remarked that Gandhi frequently moves between targeting the RSS and criticising the Prime Minister, adding that it is impossible to predict what issue he will take up within five minutes. Bawankule suggested that such unpredictable statements appear linked to an underlying condition and argued that people should not give undue importance to such remarks, claiming that the public has ceased paying attention to him.
NDA Governance Projections and Defense of the Home Minister
Chandrashekhar Bawankule also issued a firm rebuttal to remarks made by Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Raut had stated that Amit Shah would not remain in ministerial office by the time the Uniform Civil Code is implemented. In response, Bawankule asserted that the NDA will remain in power in India until 2047 with a decisive majority. He remarked that political opponents making such predictions may exhaust their lifespans, yet the NDA administration will continue its governance. According to him, the coalition's continuity is backed by solid electoral confidence and clear public mandate across the nation.
Scrutiny of Rahul Gandhi's Shifting Political Stances
Criticising the consistency of Rahul Gandhi's public positions, the Maharashtra minister highlighted several recent moves by the Congress leader. Bawankule pointed out that Gandhi frequently jumps between different protest locations and topics without sustained focus. He stated that Gandhi appears at Jantar Mantar, makes comments regarding SIR, and alternates between attacking the RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bawankule contended that these erratic changes in rhetoric show a lack of coherent policy or vision, which he argued has led voters across the country to disregard his statements altogether.
Critique of Opposition Coalition Cohesion and Motives
Turning his focus toward the broader INDIA bloc, Bawankule referenced the opposition's joint rally held in Mumbai ahead of the 2024 elections. He observed that while forty hands were raised in unity on the stage of the India Aghadi, the alliance fractured into multiple pieces once the elections concluded. The minister questioned whether any genuine solidarity remained among those political outfits after the polls. He claimed that the opposition parties converged solely out of an appetite for political power, and their failure to secure office led directly to their disarray. Bawankule stated that voters recognize these motives and will not allow the opposition coalition an entry to power in 2029 either. Drawing contrasts, he noted that while certain opposition leaders engage in divisive politics akin to the Kauravas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains dedicated to politics anchored in truth and integrity.
