Taking a firm stance on prolonged infrastructure delays, Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh has instructed IRCON International Ltd to substantially expedite construction on the 109.2 km Paletwa-Zorinpui road section. The stretch forms an integral part of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project, and the directive sets a clear objective to achieve significant headway during the upcoming working season.
High-Level Review Meeting at Lok Bhavan in Aizawl
The Governor issued these clear instructions during an official meeting held on Monday at Lok Bhavan in Aizawl. Sanjay Tripathi, the Project Head of IRCON International Ltd's Myanmar Branch, met with the Governor to outline operational developments. Tripathi presented an extensive PowerPoint presentation that provided a complete overview of the engineering work completed up to this point, the operational hurdles encountered in the field, and the strategic path forward for the road corridor.
Current Status Shows 25 Percent Physical Progress
Providing exact metrics on the execution status, Tripathi shared that the cross-border road initiative has achieved 25 per cent physical progress alongside 30 per cent financial progress to date. His presentation briefed the Governor on both the practical achievements across the Paletwa-Zorinpui stretch and the logistical obstacles that continue to affect execution timelines.
Prioritizing a Vital Central Government Initiative
Describing the Kaladan undertaking as a major initiative of the Central Government, Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh underscored that the corridor must be treated as a matter of highest priority. He observed that the infrastructure venture has already witnessed extensive setbacks and pointed out that any further deferrals cannot be permitted. Emphasizing the need for determined action, Singh stated that all conceivable efforts must be directed toward seeing the project through to completion, setting a mandate for maximum progress in the very next working season. Additionally, he advised IRCON officials to flag any operational roadblocks directly to him, assuring them of full support to facilitate swift completion.
