Saudi Arabia has granted significant financial relief to Pakistan by extending the repayment timeline for a 5 billion dollar cash deposit by three years. This decision allows Pakistan to defer the return of the funds, easing immediate pressure on its foreign exchange reserves.
Three-Year Extension Confirmed by Authorities
Pakistan's Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmad confirmed the approval of the debt rollover. This marks the third time Saudi Arabia has extended the deadline for this 5 billion dollar deposit, giving the nation crucial breathing room to manage its fiscal state.
Strategic Relations Amid Regional Tensions
The announcement comes against the backdrop of ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran. Throughout this period of heightened geopolitical friction, Pakistan has consistently underscored its strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia. The extension reflects the continued financial and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
