Political developments unfolded in Telangana on Saturday night as All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen removed its Legislative Council member Mirza Rahmat Baig from the party's primary membership. Along with the expulsion, the party leadership directed Mirza Rahmat Baig to submit his resignation to the Chairman of the Legislative Council with immediate effect.
Official Direction Issued by Joint Secretary
The decision to drop MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig was communicated through the party's Joint Secretary, SA Hussain Anwar. He stated that Baig has been shown the door by the party and must hand over his resignation letter to the Legislative Council Chairman without delay. However, the party has not yet officially disclosed the specific reasons or grounds that triggered this sudden disciplinary action against the member.
Elected to Legislative Council in 2023
Looking at his political background, Mirza Rahmat Baig secured a victory in the election for the Telangana Legislative Council from the Hyderabad Local Authorities constituency in the year 2023. Since then, he had been representing the party led by Asaduddin Owaisi from that key constituency. While this unexpected decision has sparked conversations in Hyderabad's political circles, the party leadership maintains silence on what led to the expulsion.
