Demonstrators from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a massive protest in New Delhi on Thursday against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. The agitation took place right outside the AAP national headquarters, prompting law enforcement authorities to deploy heavy police personnel to manage the crowd and prevent any breach of order. The BJP claimed that recent leaks in multiple government job competitive tests across Punjab have put the careers of hundreds of thousands of candidates at grave risk.
Security Boosted Outside AAP Headquarters Amid Escalating Protests
Following the sudden mobilization of BJP workers outside the AAP office in Delhi, security forces barricaded the surrounding roads to control access to the site. Protesting BJP leaders alleged that the governing party in Punjab has shown complete negligence regarding the conduct of fair examinations. They argued that recurring paper leaks indicate systemic failures within the administration rather than isolated mistakes. Consequently, the BJP demanded that Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains assume moral accountability for the ongoing crisis and tender his resignation immediately.
Parliament Complex Sees Intense Agitation over Exam Leaks
The controversy has reverberated beyond street demonstrations into the national legislature. Earlier on July 28, BJP members of Parliament conducted a protest inside the Parliament complex under the leadership of Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. Raising slogans such as 'Answer on Punjab Paper Leak', the lawmakers voiced strong dissatisfaction over the state administration's management of recruitment drives. The protesting parliamentarians reiterated that accountability must start at the top, pressing further for the removal of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains from his cabinet post.
Shiromani Akali Dal Urges CBI Investigation into 11 Recruitment Scams
Joining the opposition offensive, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has also intensified its criticism of the state government. SAD Member of Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal formally requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to institute a thorough probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Her demand covers 11 alleged examination scams that have reportedly occurred during the tenure of the AAP administration in Punjab. Expressing her position on the social media platform X, Badal stated that the citizenry of Punjab demands full transparency and complete accountability from the authorities.
Congress Targets Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Over Leaks and Labor Unrest
The Congress party added further pressure on the state leadership by organizing a demonstration outside Parliament on Monday. Congress lawmakers demanded the immediate resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the paper leak allegations. In their critique, Congress leaders highlighted dual grievances, condemning not only the alleged corruption in recruitment exams but also recent police action against sanitation workers protesting in Barnala. The opposition party asserted that the state administration has failed both the educated youth seeking employment and workers fighting for their rights.
