Preparations are in full swing across the country to celebrate the 79th anniversary of India's Independence on August 15. In Saharanpur, the northernmost border district of Uttar Pradesh, vibrant efforts are underway to turn the national festival into a grand celebration. As part of the statewide campaign to adorn Uttar Pradesh in the colors of the national flag, local self-help group women have been tasked with manufacturing tricolors on a large scale. Working tirelessly day and night, these women are crafting flags that will be distributed to multiple districts across the state.
Employment Boost for 50 Self-Help Group Women
The District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) assigned a target of manufacturing 25,000 national flags to the local Prerna Area Level Committee. To meet this requirement, around 50 women spread across 10 self-help groups are working with utmost dedication. Beyond facilitating the grand preparations for August 15, this government initiative has generated valuable employment opportunities for local women, encouraging financial independence while contributing directly to a major national event.
10,000 Flags Completed as Supply Chain Targets Lucknow
Providing details on the manufacturing progress, Poonam Yadav from the Prerna Area Level Committee confirmed that 10,000 national flags have already been stitched and completed, with the remaining order scheduled for completion shortly. The flags produced in Saharanpur will be utilized by the local Municipal Corporation, government institutions, and public offices. Furthermore, several lakh flags fabricated in Saharanpur will be dispatched to the state capital Lucknow and various other districts across Uttar Pradesh to support nationwide celebrations.
Core Objectives of Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026
The Central Government and the Uttar Pradesh State Government have planned the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026' on an expansive scale. The objective goes far beyond hoisting flags on rooftops; it seeks to reinforce patriotism, national integration, and deep reverence for the national flag in the heart of every citizen. In accordance with guidelines from the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, citizens are being encouraged to display the national flag at homes, private businesses, schools, and public spaces, driving the self-help groups to work with extraordinary energy and speed.
