Public resistance against a proposed solid waste management facility in Narsinghpura Barani within the Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan has intensified significantly. On Wednesday, numerous villagers from surrounding rural belts convened a major community council meeting at the Govind Gaudham Gaushala to challenge the project. Rashtriya Loktantrik Party chief and Member of Parliament Hanuman Beniwal arrived at the gathering to express total solidarity with the residents, urging local authorities and the state government to drop the municipal waste project immediately. Local communities maintain that establishing a dumping and processing facility in Narsinghpura Barani is entirely unacceptable.
Ultimatum Delivered to Administrative Authorities
Addressing the assembled crowd, MP Hanuman Beniwal delivered an explicit ultimatum directly to the administrative machinery. He demanded that the state authorities scrap the administrative approval for setting up the solid waste processing plant at Narsinghpura Barani without delay. Beniwal warned that failing to revoke the plan would compel residents to march en masse toward the highway to halt vehicular traffic completely. He further declared that following the road blockade, protestors would advance into Sri Ganganagar town the very same night to stage an indefinite gherao around the district collectorate. This announcement has reignited administrative tension surrounding municipal garbage disposal plans across the district.
Prolonged Standoff Since April
Discontent surrounding the proposed solid waste management facility across the Narsinghpura, Manjhuwas, and Barani sectors is not an isolated development. Local residents have actively resisted the establishment of the facility since April of this year. Originally, municipal administrators had planned to install the plant in Netewala. However, when the administration decided to relocate the proposal to Narsinghpura Barani, nearby residents immediately mobilized against the administrative shift. A dedicated struggle committee was established by the villagers to steer organized opposition through sit-ins, community deliberations, and public demonstrations over the preceding months. In July, the committee had previously notified authorities of prospective widespread agitations if their grievances went unheeded.
Extensive Police Vigil During Council Meeting
Given the massive turnout expected at Govind Gaudham Gaushala for Wednesday's gathering, local law enforcement maintained a high level of vigilance. Police detachments were deployed across the venue perimeter and connecting corridors to preserve public order and monitor the unfolding situation. Administrative officials continue to track decisions finalized during the assembly and any impending tactical steps planned by local leadership. The rural community remains steadfast in its core demand to remove the solid waste project completely from Narsinghpura Barani, while Beniwal's warning has placed the onus squarely on the government to resolve the protracted dispute.
