An inspiring display of communal harmony and mutual respect unfolded in the Saipau sub-division of Rajasthan's Dholpur district during the ongoing sacred month of Sawan. A pilgrimage organized by local youths to transport 101 liters of Gangajal turned into a symbol of unity when Saddam Khan, a Muslim youth, joined the group midway and walked shoulder-to-shoulder with Hindu pilgrims to complete the journey.
The 101-Liter Gangajal Pilgrimage From Soron Gangaji
The journey commenced when three dedicated youths from Kukra village, named Rahul, Sukhveer, and Saurabh, departed from Soron Gangaji carrying a large Kanwar containing 101 liters of holy water. As they traversed the long distance towards Saipau, several other enthusiastic individuals joined the group along the route. Companions including Kuldeep, Manish, Gaurav, Sonu, Monu, Pankaj, and Geetam stepped in to support the pilgrimage and share the responsibility of carrying the holy water.
Saddam Khan Joins the Journey Chanting 'Har Har Mahadev'
The highlight of this devotional procession was the active participation of Saddam Khan, a resident of Mankra village. Joining the group halfway through their trek, Khan fully immersed himself in the experience, walking side by side with his fellow pilgrims. Throughout the remaining distance, he enthusiastically chanted 'Har Har Mahadev' alongside the group. As noted by Ramkishan Parmar, Khan's devotion and earnest participation drew widespread appreciation from observers and instilled a strong sense of fellowship among the pilgrims.
Jalabhishekam at Historic Shiv Temple and Community Reception
The procession reached its culmination on the first Monday of Sawan at the historic Mahadev Shiv Temple located in Saipau. Upon reaching the temple, the group offered the 101 liters of Gangajal for the sacred abhishekam ritual of Lord Shiva. Following the religious ceremonies, the gatherers collectively prayed for the nation's welfare, peace, and ongoing progress. As the procession moved through the main commercial streets of Saipau sub-division, residents belonging to various backgrounds lined the streets to shower flower petals and present garlands to the pilgrims.
