Fatal Collision While Returning Home
The deceased youngsters were identified as Sameer Yadav and Rooplal, both residents of Sundani village. They were classmates studying in Class 12. On Sunday, the two friends were travelling back to their village from Banswara on their motorbike. As their two-wheeler reached the stretch of Udaipur Road passing close to Mungana, an oncoming public transport bus travelling at high speed rammed straight into them.
The force of the crash threw both boys violently onto the road surface, causing catastrophic injuries. Both teenagers succumbed to their severe wounds on the spot. Hearing the loud crash, nearby residents and shopkeepers rushed to the scene to assist and immediately alerted the local police authorities.
Local Anger Over Unchecked Vehicle Speeds
As news of the fatal accident spread rapidly across the area, hundreds of villagers from Mungana and adjoining settlements gathered at the site. The tragedy sparked significant public anger, with residents highlighting that reckless driving and excessive vehicular speeds on this stretch consistently put commuters' lives in danger. Agitated villagers intercepted the public transport bus involved in the crash at the scene, preventing it from leaving, and later handed the vehicle over to the police.
The tense atmosphere following the collision caused a temporary standstill in regular traffic movement along Udaipur Road, as community members voiced deep concern over repeated safety lapses on the route.
Police Investigation and Community Grief
Following the distress alert, personnel from the Ghatol police station arrived at the location to restore order and manage the crowd. Officers took custody of the bodies of both boys to complete the mandatory formal procedures. The police also impounded the offending public transport bus as part of the legal inquiry.
