The issue of alleged embezzlement and widespread theft of donations made to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir has intensified, creating a storm in political circles. Congress leader Digvijaya Singh raised serious questions regarding the matter, stating that he had personally donated 1,11,00 rupees via cheque. He questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who appointed the trust members, has remained silent on the issue. Digvijaya Singh asserted that large-scale looting had occurred, noting with concern that no FIR was registered initially, and criticizing the police for failing to seek remand for the suspects.
Yogi Government's Stance and Police Action
Addressing the allegations of financial irregularities in the Ram Mandir donation, BJP MP Rahul Sinha stated that the culprits who dared to steal from the temple must face severe consequences to serve as a deterrent. He emphasized that the government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would not spare anyone involved, ensuring that no one else would dare to cast an evil eye on the temple's assets. In connection with the investigation, Ayodhya police took the accused, Ramshankar Yadav, alias Tinnu Yadav, to his hostel in Durgapuri Colony to conduct a thorough search of the premises, which includes approximately 13 rooms and a large hall.
Background of Anukul Mishra and the Bhagwat Katha Revelations
Investigations into the embezzlement case also reached the village home of accused Anukul Mishra in Basawa, Ayodhya. His grandfather, Rajendra Prasad Mishra, stated that Anukul was pursuing graduation after passing 10th grade, and he was unaware that his grandson was employed by the temple trust. While Anukul’s father is a property dealer and the accused resides in Kaushalpuri, details about his lavish lifestyle have surfaced. It was revealed that Anukul hosted a seven-day Bhagwat Katha in his village during April. Photos on Anukul’s social media accounts show him alongside Champat Rai and several local officials, indicating the scale and high cost of the event.
Political Reactions and Upcoming Statements
Aam Aadmi Party leader Priyanka Kakkar criticized the BJP, alleging that a party which rose to power in the name of Lord Ram is now witnessing theft within the temple premises. She demanded strict punishment for those involved. Meanwhile, Swami Shri Govindananda Saraswati has scheduled a press conference for June 28 in Ayodhya. The event will take place at 11:00 AM at Shri Sitaraj Mahal, where he is expected to present his views on the donation irregularities and address the concerns of devotees across the country.
