A case out of Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh has left an entire neighbourhood talking, after a mother of seven children left her home and allegedly ran away with her own daughter's father-in-law. When her husband objected to the relationship, he says he was threatened with death for speaking up. The incident, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kokhraj police station, has quickly become the biggest talking point in the locality, with residents discussing little else.
Closeness grew after the daughter's wedding
According to the family, the woman had got her daughter married roughly three months ago. After the wedding, the daughter's father-in-law, identified as Rakesh, began visiting the house far more often than before. In most households, the samdhi bond, the relationship shared by the parents of a married couple, rests on trust and mutual respect. In this case, that bond is alleged to have turned into something else altogether. Over time, the woman and Rakesh reportedly grew closer, and three days ago she suddenly disappeared from home without any explanation. When the family could not trace her whereabouts, her husband, Indrraj, set out to look for her on his own.
Found staying at a hotel, husband alleges threat
Indrraj says his own search eventually led him to a hotel, where he found his wife staying together with Rakesh. He alleges that the moment he objected to the relationship and tried to persuade his wife to return home, Rakesh turned aggressive and threatened to kill him instead. Rattled by the threat, Indrraj went straight to the police and filed a written complaint at Kokhraj police station, demanding action against Rakesh. The episode has caused a stir across the area, with people openly questioning how a relationship meant to be built on trust could collapse in this manner.
Husband says a recording backs up his claim
Indrraj claims he has an audio recording of his conversation with Rakesh, in which the alleged death threat was made. He has said he is fully willing to hand this recording over to the police as evidence if it is needed for the investigation. According to Indrraj, the recording should be enough to support his allegations and help establish exactly what was said and by whom.
Police confirm a probe is underway
Kokhraj station house officer Santosh Sharma confirmed that a complaint has been received from Indrraj and that all facts connected to the case are currently being examined. He said further legal action would be taken only once the investigation is complete, and that the police intend to establish the truth soon. For now, the case continues to dominate conversations in this part of Kaushambi, with the changing shape of family relationships becoming a talking point well beyond the household involved.
