A horrifying crime has come to light in the Barain village of Raebareli district, Uttar Pradesh, where a young woman, along with her mother, allegedly murdered her father after he opposed her love affair. To conceal the crime, the duo buried the body in a ditch located just 50 meters from their residence. The incident remained hidden for nearly a month until police launched an investigation following a missing person complaint filed by the victim's son. Guided by the daughter's confession, law enforcement authorities excavated the site and recovered the victim's skeletal remains.
Victim Chhotelal Missing Since July 17
According to preliminary police details, the middle-aged victim, identified as Chhotelal, had been missing since July 17. For a month, his whereabouts remained unknown while his wife continuously misled their son, who was away from home. The mother kept assuring her son that his father would return soon. However, after an entire month elapsed without any news or contact from his father, the son grew suspicious and returned to the village.
Alarmed by the situation, the son approached the Harchandpur police station and submitted a formal written complaint regarding his father's disappearance. Police immediately registered a missing person report and initiated a systematic search operation. As investigators began reviewing the family's statements, inconsistencies emerged, prompting officers to detain and interrogate the victim's wife and daughter separately.
Skeleton Exhumed 50 Meters From Family Home
During sustained police interrogation, both the mother and daughter confessed to their involvement in the murder. The daughter disclosed the precise spot where they had buried the body. Acting on her directions, a police team proceeded to the specified location in Barain village and commenced digging at a ditch situated merely 50 meters away from the family's house.
The excavation yielded human skeletal remains, identified as those of Chhotelal. Because the body had been buried underground for an entire month, decomposition was advanced, leaving mostly bones. Police secured the skeletal remains and dispatched them for forensic examination and an autopsy to determine the exact cause and timing of death.
Love Affair Motive and Ongoing Investigation
Police investigations revealed that the primary motive behind the killing was the daughter's alleged romantic relationship. Chhotelal had reportedly discovered the affair and was actively objecting to it, creating friction within the household. Frustrated by her father's resistance, the daughter plotted his murder. In a startling turn of events, the mother chose to assist her daughter in executing the crime rather than discouraging her.
Together, the mother and daughter killed Chhotelal, buried his body nearby, and maintained a normal routine to evade suspicion while deliberately misleading the son. Both suspects are currently in police custody undergoing further questioning. Investigators are also examining whether any additional individuals assisted the pair in committing the murder or burying the remains. Police confirmed that comprehensive evidence is being assembled to ensure a strong prosecution in court.
