A disturbing case of cruelty has emerged from Agra in Uttar Pradesh, where a tenant allegedly stuffed his landlord's pet dog into a sack and hurled it down from the third floor of the building. The fall left the voiceless animal with fractures in all four legs and its spine. As the incident came to light, public anger erupted and police were alerted, while the injured dog is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The case is from Chandan Nagar in the Tedhi Bagiya area, which falls under the Trans Yamuna Colony police station limits in Agra. A resident named Radheshyam had been keeping a pet dog for quite some time. In his complaint to the police, Radheshyam said that around 2 am on Wednesday night, Sunil, who lived at his house as a tenant, tied the pet dog inside a sack and threw it down from the third floor. When Radheshyam saw the dog's condition the next morning, he was left stunned. He immediately called the 112 police control room number to report the incident. Once the information reached them, the severely injured dog was rushed to the nearest veterinary hospital, where it is currently being treated.

Victim's allegation, and a death threat

Radheshyam said the dog has suffered severe fractures in all four legs and its spine. He alleged that when he protested against this inhuman act by his tenant Sunil, Sunil instead threatened to kill him and fled from the spot. According to Radheshyam, the accused Sunil had long harboured an unwarranted hatred towards voiceless animals. On this basis, Radheshyam has filed a police complaint demanding strict legal action against the accused under the Animal Cruelty Act.

A video of the entire incident quickly went viral on social media, showing the badly injured pet dog whimpering in pain. As soon as the video surfaced, viewers' anger boiled over. People said that such cruelty towards a voiceless animal cannot be accepted in any civilised society, with many users demanding the strictest possible action against the accused.

Police say investigation is underway

Station in-charge Harendra Kumar said that the video which went viral on social media has come to the notice of the police and a thorough investigation into the matter has been launched. Police are now gathering evidence from the spot and searching for the accused, Sunil, so that legal action can be taken forward against him.
