In an inspiring turn toward mainstream life, surrendered Maoist Sannu Aanchla alias Santosh has successfully cleared the Class 10 examination in Bastar. Having once handled weapons during his active involvement in the Maoist movement, he chose to rebuild his life through formal education. Sannu had previously studied only up to Class 2 before breaking away from schooling. Following his surrender, he took up textbooks once again to shape a constructive future and now intends to pursue higher education.
Early Fascination With Cultural Performances
Recalling his past, Sannu shared that his initial entry into the extremist outfit was triggered by local cultural events. During his childhood, cultural groups affiliated with the Maoists frequently held public performances in his neighborhood. Watching the performers present songs and dramas before large audiences left a strong impression on his young mind. He felt drawn to the prospect of joining them to sing and perform in front of thousands of people. That childhood fascination eventually led him into the outfit, where he later operated as a member of the Area Committee.
Recognizing the Value of Knowledge and Surrender
During his early childhood at home, Sannu had attained minimal schooling, dropping out after Class 2. However, while inside the organization, peers and members emphasized that education is vital to understanding society, people, and the broader world. This realization sparked his interest in learning, prompting him to pay closer attention to basic literacy even while active in the group. After laying down arms and formally surrendering, Sannu openly expressed his ambition to resume formal schooling before administrative authorities. The officials encouraged his decision and supported his transition back into the educational fold.
Late-Night Dedication to Overcome Difficult Subjects
Returning to academics after a prolonged gap posed substantial learning challenges for Sannu. In the beginning, he encountered significant trouble grasping core concepts in subjects like Hindi and Home Science. Determined to overcome these hurdles, he maintained a rigorous daily study routine, often studying until around 11:30 PM every night. Persistent revision and sustained efforts enabled him to gradually master the syllabus and successfully clear the Class 10 board examination. Having crossed this milestone, his immediate goal is to keep progressing in his studies without disruption.
