The Anantpura police in Kota have apprehended a woman wanted in connection with an abduction and honeytrap extortion case. The arrested individual, identified as Chetna alias Gungun, a resident of Kotri, had been absconding since the crime took place. She carried a bounty of Rs 5,000 on her arrest. The police team captured her following a tip-off from an informer, ending a multi-day manhunt across several suspected hideouts. The operation was carried out under a special campaign initiated by SP Tejaswani Gautam to arrest wanted criminals.
Modus Operandi: Loan Promise and Abduction
The matter first came to light on May 3, 2026, when a victim approached the Anantpura police station to lodge an official complaint. According to the complainant, an unknown woman contacted him through Messenger, offering assistance to secure a loan. Relying on her assurances, the man agreed to meet her at the Indian Petrol Pump. Upon arriving, the woman got inside his Swift car under the pretext of showing loan-related documentation and persuaded him to drive toward Jhalawar Road. Shortly after, the situation took a sinister turn when her associates riding motorcycles intercepted the vehicle along the highway.
Extortion at Knifepoint and ATM Withdrawals
Once the car was brought to a halt, the female suspect and her accomplices physically assaulted the victim inside the vehicle. The gang brandished a knife, threatening his life, and warned that they would frame him in a false rape case if he refused to comply with their demands. Holding him hostage inside his own Swift car, the perpetrators forced him to drive toward the Anta and Baran regions. During this ordeal, the criminals coerced the victim into stopping at two separate bank ATMs, where they forcibly made him withdraw a total of Rs 96,000 in cash. After collecting the money, the accused fled the spot, leaving the victim traumatized.
Police Action and Ongoing Investigation
Following the victim's complaint, the Anantpura police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an intensive probe. As Chetna alias Gungun evaded arrest, police authorities declared a reward of Rs 5,000 on information leading to her capture. A specialized police team led by Anantpura Thana In-charge Mahesh Kumar activated their intelligence network and monitored various potential hideouts. Acting on precise information provided by an informer, the team conducted a targeted raid and successfully apprehended her. Police officers are currently interrogating the suspect to gather further clues and identify the full extent of involvement of her remaining accomplices.
