The grand five-day Shravan Jhula Utsav has officially commenced at the sacred complex of Shri Raghuveer Mandir, Badi Gufa, located in Jankikund, Chitrakoot. Established by Paramhans Sant Shri Ranchhoddas Ji Maharaj, the temple is currently serving as a vibrant hub for folk artists who have gathered from various corners of the country. The entire temple premises have been decorated for the occasion, creating an atmosphere where deep spiritual devotion seamlessly blends with regional folk culture.
Over 300 Folk Artists to Showcase Cultural Heritage
More than 300 folk artists from across India are scheduled to present their traditional art forms during this five-day festival. Since the event kicked off yesterday, over 100 performers have already taken to the stage, mesmerizing gathering devotees with traditional jhula songs and rural folk dances. A standout highlight of the celebrations is the vivid portrayal of the rich cultural heritage of Bundelkhand alongside authentic rural traditions, offering visitors a deep connection to regional art forms.
Gurukul Students Portray Mythological and Epic Scenes
Adding to the spiritual aura of the festival, tableaux depicting significant religious and mythological narratives have captured the attention of visiting devotees. Students from the gurukul of Shri Ram Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya prepared and staged multiple artistic representations. Their performances vividly brought to life timeless epic episodes, including Shri Ram-Bharat Milap, Sita Swayamvar, the Hastinapur Rajsabha, and the climactic Ram-Ravan Yuddh.
Special Tableau Honors the Service of Padma Shri Dr. B.K. Jain
A major highlight of this year's Jhula Utsav is a special living tableau dedicated to the life and humanitarian work of Padma Shri Dr. B.K. Jain. The presentation highlights his extensive social contributions and selfless service initiatives. By showcasing his life's work, the organizers aim to inspire visiting devotees and cultivate a strong sense of community service and social responsibility among the public.
Illuminations and Floral Decor Adorn Temple Premises
In celebration of the festival, the Shri Raghuveer Mandir complex has been decorated with vibrant electric lighting and floral arrangements. At the heart of the temple, the sight of Yugal Sarkar seated on a decorated swing serves as the primary spiritual attraction for worshippers. During the evening hours, the illuminated temple facade and premises present an enchanting view that draws steady crowds of pilgrims.
Daily Evening Schedule Running Through August 29
The five-day gathering at Jankikund stands as a confluence of religious faith and traditional folk culture, connecting worshippers with the spiritual history of Chitrakoot. The cultural programs take place every evening from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue through August 29. Throughout the remaining days, visiting folk troupes will continue to showcase rural art forms, keeping the traditional roots of the region alive for visiting pilgrims.
