A tragic road accident occurred early Thursday morning on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, falling under the Mohammadpur Ahir police station limits in Nuh, Haryana. A police officer lost his life, and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) sustained critical injuries when a speeding truck collided with a stationary vehicle where the police team was conducting an investigation. The officers had stopped near village Goyla to process a vehicle that had been intercepted for allegedly transporting cattle.
Details of the Incident
According to the facts established, the Punhana CIA unit had acted on credible intelligence regarding a vehicle carrying cattle. After successfully intercepting and taking control of the vehicle, the police team began transporting it for further legal processing. However, due to unexpected mechanical failures, the vehicle became immobilized while still on the KMP Expressway. Consequently, the team pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, and the officers remained stationed near it while managing the situation.
Impact of the Collision
During this time, a truck approaching from the direction of Manesar at a high speed violently crashed into the side of the stationary vehicle. The impact was severe enough that the police officer standing nearby, identified as Girish, was caught under the truck's wheels. He died on the spot. ASI Mukesh, who was also present, suffered grave injuries in the collision, while another colleague, Sahil, narrowly escaped unharmed.
Medical Care and Investigation
Local law enforcement authorities, including the Mohammadpur Ahir station and the Dhulawat traffic unit, arrived at the site immediately to conduct rescue and relief operations. ASI Mukesh was rushed to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, where he is currently undergoing treatment and remains in critical condition. A spokesperson for the Nuh police confirmed the incident, stating that every aspect of the case is currently under investigation. Police have taken both the cattle-laden vehicle and the truck involved in the collision into custody as the inquiry proceeds.
