A fresh twist has emerged in Bhopal's high-profile Twisha murder case. The CBI is investigating the case on the directions of the Supreme Court, issued after the victim's family sought the probe, but in the middle of that investigation, a burglary took place at the home of accused Giribala Singh, Twisha's mother-in-law, on Saturday, June 28. The burglars made off with gold and silver jewellery along with several important documents, and CCTV footage capturing the entire theft has now surfaced.
Mother and son are in jail, yet the house was burgled
Giribala Singh and her son, Twisha's husband Samarth Singh, are currently lodged in jail. The burglary at their home during their absence has raised several questions. The CCTV footage clearly shows the thieves carrying out the theft at retired justice Giribala Singh's house with remarkable ease.
Thieves entered from the rear, climbed to the first floor
According to police, the miscreants approached from a path behind the house, climbed up to the first floor, and entered the home from there. They then broke open the lock of an almirah and made away with a licensed revolver, gold and silver jewellery, and other valuables kept inside it.
Siddharth Singh to identify the recovered items
Police have recovered some of the stolen items in connection with the case. To establish whether the recovered items actually belong to the haul stolen from Giribala Singh's house, her elder son Siddharth Singh will be called in to identify the seized goods. Only after his identification will it become clear whether the recovered material is indeed part of the stolen property.
Giribala Singh told the court jewellery worth around Rs 20 lakh was stolen
Notably, Giribala Singh had stated in her submission to the court that jewellery worth around Rs 20 lakh went missing in the burglary. A licensed revolver was also stolen from the house, following which police specifically stepped up their investigation. Police are currently questioning the accused as they work to recover the remaining stolen items and trace other people who may have been involved in the burglary.
