A shocking incident of sexual assault and murder of a minor girl has come to light in the Junnar area of Pune district, Maharashtra. The perpetrator committed the horrific crime before discarding the young girl's body in a nearby forest. As news of the tragedy spread, severe tension gripped the entire locality, triggering widespread public outrage among local residents.
Villager Outrage and Swift Police Action
Following the discovery of the crime, enraged villagers from Junnar assembled in large numbers and laid siege to the local police station. The protesters demanded immediate and strict action against the culprit. Recognizing the sensitivity of the situation, the police administration deployed forces promptly to control the crowd and successfully apprehended the primary suspect. Authorities assured the public that a thorough and expedited investigation would be conducted.
Case Background and Legal Proceedings
Investigators revealed that the 65-year-old accused, identified as Bhimrao, lured the young child into the forest where he committed the assault and murder. The incident drew sharp condemnation from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who stated that the government would push for the maximum penalty. The National Commission for Women (NCW) also monitored the case. Demonstrating rapid judicial action, a special court in Pune completed the trial within 59 days and sentenced the convict Bhimrao to death.
