A somber discovery occurred on Friday at approximately 2 PM when the body of a woman was found in a room at Hotel Rajasthani, located in a prominent area of Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. Upon being alerted by the hotel management, local law enforcement arrived at the scene and took possession of the body from room number 201 for a post-mortem examination. A forensic team promptly arrived at the location to collect evidence from the hotel room. The deceased was identified as 47-year-old Anupama Pandey, the wife of Amit Pandey, a resident of the Hardoi district.
Checked into the hotel two days prior
Preliminary investigations reveal that Anupama Pandey had been staying at the hotel since July 8. Whether her death was a result of suicide or homicide remains unclear and will only be confirmed following the official autopsy report. Immediately after the discovery, the sister of the deceased alleged that Anupama had been murdered. In response to these claims, police are now meticulously reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel premises to trace any suspicious movements or visitors.
Why did she stop at the hotel instead of heading home?
The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the city police station in Sitapur. Anupama Pandey was a resident of the Awas Vikas Colony in the Hardoi district. Reports indicate that on July 8, she had set out from her in-laws' home in Lakhimpur, ostensibly headed toward her parental home in Hardoi. However, instead of completing that journey, she arrived at Hotel Rajasthani in Sitapur and booked room number 201.
Police force door open
On Friday, concern grew among the hotel staff when there was no movement or response from inside the room for an extended period. The staff alerted the Roadways Chowki police station. Upon the arrival of the police, the door was opened to reveal that Anupama Pandey’s body was lying on the bed.

As news of the discovery spread, it caused a stir among the hotel staff and the local community. The forensic team conducted a detailed inspection of the scene.
