Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to mark the Janmashtami festival with a series of high-profile events spanning multiple cities. Kicking off his two-day itinerary, he will arrive in Mathura on Friday morning to visit the sacred Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi. During his time at the complex, he will perform cow worship followed by traditional prayers, offering his devotion at the feet of Lord Krishna. The visit underscores the deep cultural significance attached to the holy town during the festive season.
Massive Development Push for Mathura
A day prior to the main Janmashtami celebrations, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gifted Mathura a massive developmental boost by inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 229 projects totaling Rs 1,051 crore. He distributed keys, checks, approval letters, appointment letters, and toolkits to various beneficiaries, including 7,240 recipients under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme. According to officials, these infrastructure initiatives will enhance religious tourism, improve pilgrim amenities, upgrade roads and street lighting, boost beautification efforts, and support local handicraft activities across Mathura, Vrindavan, and surrounding sacred sites.
Evening Festivities at Lucknow Police Lines
Following his engagements in Mathura, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will travel to Lucknow to participate in the evening Janmashtami celebrations at the Police Lines. Police Commissioner Tarun Gaba stated that the Chief Minister will view the decorative tableaux inside the temple and experience a rich tapestry of devotional and spiritual performances curated for the occasion.
Late-Night Arrival at Gorakhnath Temple
Later in the night, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will reach Gorakhpur in his capacity as the Gorakhpeethadheeshwar to take part in the local Janmashtami festivities at the Gorakhnath Temple. Devotional hymns will resonate continuously at the Mahant Digvijay Nath Smriti Bhawan until 11:30 PM, leading up to the divine manifestation of Lord Krishna.
Distributing Gifts to Children
Amidst the musical devotion, the Chief Minister will interact with attendees and present toys and chocolates to children present at the venue. The celebrations will also feature a special child-fancy-dress competition centered around the childhood forms of Lord Krishna.
Midnight Rituals Inside the Sanctum Sanctorum
At 11:30 PM, the Gorakhpeethadheeshwar will enter the sanctum sanctorum of the Gorakhnath Temple to perform sacred rituals. As the clock strikes midnight, amidst powerful Vedic chanting, he will officially celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna inside the innermost shrine and gently rock the infant deity's idol in a traditional cradle.
