Amid severe flooding and natural disaster conditions in Nepal, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed a large-scale emergency relief and rescue operation to safely evacuate state residents trapped across the border. The Uttar Pradesh government has placed all bordering districts on high alert and mobilized specialized units to reach affected citizens as quickly as possible. Officials are prioritizing immediate assistance and safe passage for people stranded in flood-hit regions of Nepal.
SDRF Platoon, PAC Contingent, and Rescue Boats Deployed
To bolster ground operations, a dedicated State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) platoon comprising 32 trained personnel has been dispatched to disaster zones in Nepal. Additionally, 22 personnel from the 26th Battalion of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed to reinforce relief activities. The administration emphasized that supplementary forces and material resources will be provided as the situation evolves. To navigate submerged terrains, 4 specialized rubber boats are currently operational on-site, with an additional SDRF team dispatched carrying 1 aluminum boat. Rescue preparation activities have been significantly intensified around the Sindhuria sector.

The state Relief Commissioner's office in Lucknow is actively monitoring border districts round the clock through its central control room. Local authorities are gathering intelligence regarding ground conditions and keeping track of residents from Uttar Pradesh who are stuck in affected zones. The state government has launched a dedicated helpline number, 1070, for families worried about relatives currently in Nepal. Citizens can reach out to this line to request emergency assistance or provide details about stranded family members.
MEA Confirms 288 Indians Missing in Nepal Calamity
The sudden flash flooding has raised severe concerns over the safety of Indian nationals in Nepal. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated on Thursday that 288 Indian citizens remain unaccounted for following the disaster. The missing individuals include Indian workers stationed at several hydroelectric power project sites across Nepal, as well as a substantial number of tourists visiting affected areas. Uttar Pradesh authorities and central agencies are maintaining continuous communication with Nepalese officials to trace the missing persons and ensure prompt rescue.
