Ragini, a Class 1 student at Primary School Digheda in the Maniyar education zone, has been commuting to school despite suffering from a permanent leg disability. Her earnest appeal to the district collector for a bicycle to ease her daily travel went viral across social media platforms, highlighting both her daily hardship and her passion for learning.
Viral Video Highlights Daily Commute Struggle
In the video circulated online, Ragini directly addressed the district magistrate to explain her plight and request help. She pleaded, "DM uncle, one of my legs is damaged, please get me a bicycle so I can come to school every day." Ragini suffered severe physical trauma to her leg during a road accident early in her childhood, leaving her fully disabled in that limb. Walking to school on a single leg causes her immense physical exhaustion every day. Her parents, facing severe financial hardship, do not possess the financial resources to purchase a tricycle or customized mobility device for her.

District Magistrate Orders Swift Medical Assessment
Upon taking note of Ragini's viral appeal, Ballia District Magistrate Mangla Prasad Singh initiated prompt administrative intervention. He dispatched a specialized team, including a doctor and the Divyangjan Empowerment Officer, directly to Digheda Primary School to inspect her condition. The team was tasked with evaluating Ragini's physical requirements to determine the exact type of assistive technology or device needed to restore her independent mobility.

District Magistrate Mangla Prasad Singh confirmed that preliminary reports clearly indicated Ragini is unable to walk long distances on foot. He assured that immediately upon receiving the official medical evaluation report on the same day, the appropriate assistive device would be handed over to her.
