A high-profile domestic dispute within the Uttarakhand government has escalated into a legal battle after Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya registered a criminal case against her husband, Girdhari Lal Sahu, widely known as Pappu Girdhari. Shortly after filing the official complaint and publicly sharing details of the ongoing turmoil, the minister experienced a sudden deterioration in her physical and mental health. She was promptly admitted to a hospital in Dehradun, where medical personnel are currently attending to her condition under close observation.
Allegations of Physical Abuse, Casteist Slurs, and Extramarital Affairs
In her detailed written complaint submitted to the Cantt police station in Dehradun, the cabinet minister levelled multiple serious accusations against her spouse. She stated that her husband maintained illicit relationships with other women, and whenever she raised objections to these liaisons, she was subjected to continuous physical assaults and severe mental torture. The minister also alleged that her husband used derogatory casteist slurs against her and issued open threats to her life. According to the complaint, she was repeatedly humiliated even at her official government residence in full view of administrative and personal staff.
Fraudulent Removal from Directorship Through Forged Documents
Beyond allegations of domestic abuse and verbal harassment, Rekha Arya has accused her husband of orchestrating major corporate fraud against her. She revealed that she previously held the post of director in associated commercial enterprises, but was removed without her knowledge or consent. She claimed that forged paperwork bearing counterfeit signatures in her name was submitted to complete the removal, despite her never having tendered any formal resignation. Furthermore, an audio recording was brought forward in which the husband allegedly conspired with an unidentified woman to plot against the minister and issue further warnings.

The minister conveyed profound apprehension regarding her personal safety and the security of her minor children, citing a progressively hostile domestic environment. She pointed out that her husband erratic conduct and persistent intimidation had created a climate of constant fear within the household, leaving her with no alternative but to seek formal legal protection. Law enforcement officials at the Dehradun Cantt police station have registered the case and initiated an intensive probe into the matter.
