A large-scale nationwide initiative focused on social welfare and community outreach has been launched on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday. Titled 'Vadnagar to Varanasi: A Yatra of Seva', the campaign aims to spread messages of dedicated service, public engagement, and social awareness across the country. In this unique first-of-its-kind expedition, 20 distinct teams have united under a single mission of service to navigate an extensive distance of 35,500 kilometers.
A 21-Day Nationwide Journey Across States and Villages
Scheduled to run from September 17 through October 7, the 21-day expedition will see teams traveling along the route connecting Vadnagar to Varanasi and returning from Varanasi to Vadnagar. Throughout this extensive itinerary, the participating contingents will traverse multiple states, covering major cities, districts, blocks, small towns, and rural settlements. Organizers emphasize that this initiative extends far beyond an ordinary motorcycle rally, serving as a comprehensive mission to directly connect with citizens and deliver impactful community service.
Cleanliness Drives, Tree Plantation, and Institutional Support
At various designated stops along the travel route, the volunteers are participating in on-ground service projects tailored to local community needs. These efforts include sanitation and cleanliness drives across water ponds, religious temples, schools, public parks, medical centers, and other shared civic spaces. In alignment with environmental conservation, mass sapling plantation is being conducted under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, alongside cow care activities. Volunteers visiting PM SHRI schools are cleaning school grounds, interacting directly with young students, and handing out books and essential stationery supplies. In addition, relief and care support are being extended to residents in local hospitals, orphanages, and senior citizen homes.
Community Dialogues and Empowerment of Frontline Workers
Under the banner of social upliftment, support kits are being provided to widows, while community healthcare workers, known as ASHA workers, are being felicitated for their grassroots service. The campaign prioritizes direct public engagement through structured interactive forums, including youth dialogues, women forums, gram sabha meets, and beneficiary interaction sessions. These structured discussions help teams understand local public aspirations while raising grassroots awareness regarding key welfare schemes and pressing societal matters.
Encouraging Organ Donation and Honoring National Heroes
To cultivate a spirit of civic responsibility, the initiative incorporates an organ donation pledge drive designed to encourage citizens to sign up for posthumous organ donation. Furthermore, the journey honors the country's heritage by paying tribute to freedom fighters and fallen martyrs, reinforcing historical connections within local communities. The holistic mission blends dedicated community service, citizen outreach, active youth participation, public welfare, cultural bonding, and community collaboration to deliver positive social impact at the grassroots level.
